Meet Ed and Teresa Haagsma, who have been full-timing in their Majestic for over eight years. Their answers and insights will give you an authentic look into the lifestyle and reliability that New Horizons offers…
How would you say the framework of your unit – the chassis, walls and roofing, have held up to the wear and tear of full-time RV travel?
Our 2016 Majestic has had eight and a half years of true full-time use and logged over 88,000 miles from Alaska and Canada to most of the lower 48 states. We’ve stayed at state parks, national parks, luxury resorts, dry camped on Bureau of Land Management land, stayed at Harvest Hosts locations and even the occasional Walmart or truck stop.
Structurally, the coach has held up great — and we are loaded! The gross vehicle weight rating of our unit is 29,000 pounds, and we weigh in at 28K. We’ve had no leaks. We have experienced some delamination and a small crack in the exterior wall, but it was easily repaired at New Horizons.
How much time has your unit spent in the service center?
Overall, we have spent very little time in service. We’ve had no electrical issues, no plumbing problems and no structural problems.
We have had the expected amount of wear such as scratches in the hardwood floors (most due to the large dog), the occasional loose screw, some paint aging, some rust on the outside stairs and worn-out canvas on the awnings and slides. Otherwise, everything is very much like when we first got it.
What is your favorite function, amenity, component of your coach?
It’s hard to say what our favorite part of our RV is, although the dishwasher and built-in washer and dryer have got to be near the top of the list. We still love the whole coach as much as we did when we got it.
What do you feel is the #1 difference why your New Horizons RV has lasted all these years?
Other brands don’t have the same track record for durability and longevity. The answer is simple: the quality build.
When we first started looking at full-time units, we spent a lot of time at places like the Hershey RV show. The New Horizons unit was the first one we walked into and went, “Wow, we could live here!” Now, eight and a half years later, we still do and have no plans to stop anytime soon.
